This Cookie Policy explains how aquariumtools uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to help site owners understand how their site is used.
Our approach
We keep cookies to a minimum. The calculators work without any account and without tracking cookies. We do not use cookies for advertising and we do not sell your data.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They include the session cookie that keeps you signed in and the cookie that protects forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). Without these, the site cannot work properly.
Preference cookies. We may store your language and display preferences (such as light or dark theme) so the site remembers them between visits.
Analytics. We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to measure site usage. Umami is configured to work without tracking cookies and collects only aggregated, non-identifying data.
Third-party cookies
Some features rely on third-party services that may set their own cookies when you use them:
- Google reCAPTCHA runs only on our sign-in and registration pages, where it protects those forms from spam and abuse. It is a security measure and may set a cookie provided by Google on those two pages.
- Social sign-in with Google, Facebook, or Apple may set cookies from those providers during the sign-in flow, only if you choose to use it.
- Ko-fi is loaded only when you open the "Support us" widget from the footer. If you open it, Ko-fi may set its own cookies. It is not contacted on any page unless you choose to open the widget.
These cookies are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of the respective providers.
Because we set no analytics or advertising cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner. Umami runs without cookies, the reCAPTCHA cookie is a security measure confined to the sign-in and registration pages, and social sign-in cookies are set only if you choose that option.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or remove cookies, but please note that strictly necessary cookies are required for signing in and for the secure operation of the site, so disabling them may prevent parts of the service from working.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
